Nashville Predators Lose Lead With 11 Seconds Left, Fall In OT To Philadelphia Flyers
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators let a two-goal lead slip away in the final seconds of regulation and eventually fell to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime on Saturday night.
Late Flyers Rally
The Predators appeared to be in control of the game, leading 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the third period. However, the Flyers managed to tie the game with two quick goals, one from Nicolas Aube-Kubel and one from Noah Cates.
Overtime Heartbreaker
The game went to overtime, and it was the Flyers who dealt the final blow. Just 11 seconds into the extra period, Travis Konecny scored the game-winning goal to give Philadelphia the 3-2 victory.
Missed Opportunities
“We had our chances to close it out, but we didn’t,” Predators captain Roman Josi said. “We have to find a way to put those games away.”
Playoff Implications
The loss was a costly one for the Predators, who are now three points behind the Flyers in the race for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Looking Ahead
The Predators will have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers, meanwhile, will face the New York Rangers on Monday.
