Jewelry Designer Lynn Ban Dies After Brain Surgery Following Skiing Accident

Lynn Ban, a jewelry designer who appeared on the Netflix reality series “Bling Empire: New York,” has passed away just weeks after undergoing emergency brain surgery due to a skiing accident, according to an announcement made by her son on Wednesday. “She always maintained a cheerful disposition despite the challenges she faced during her recovery process,” her son, Sebastian, wrote on Instagram. “She fought until the very end and is the strongest woman I know.”

Ban revealed last month that she had been enjoying a family vacation in Aspen when she suffered a fall while skiing on Christmas Eve. While she was initially cleared by ski patrol, she later reported experiencing a headache and sought medical attention.

A paramedic recommended that she undergo a CAT scan, which revealed the presence of a brain bleed. While her son did not disclose the specific cause of death, he confirmed that she passed away on Monday and expressed his desire to inform her fans about the tragic event. The post announcing her death included a series of photographs of the Ban family alongside a moving tribute written by her son.

“As a final message to my mum, I merely want to express that I will forever cherish her memory. I recall her frequently saying, ‘I love you more than life itself,'” he wrote.

“Bling Empire: New York” is a spinoff of the popular Netflix reality series “Bling Empire,” which follows the lives of a group of affluent Asian American socialites residing in Los Angeles. The spinoff series maintains the same premise, focusing on individuals living in New York City.

Dorothy Wang, another “Bling Empire: New York” cast member, expressed that Ban’s eyes would light up whenever she spoke about her son. “Although she adored fashion and her appearance, what truly mattered most to her was always you and your father, her closest companions,” Wang remarked. “We are all deeply saddened by her passing.”

Ban, who was born in Singapore, founded the jewelry label Lynn Ban Jewelry, which caters to a clientele that includes celebrities such as Rihanna and Lady Gaga, according to her website. BeyoncĂ© showcased some of Ban’s designs in her renowned 2018 Vogue photoshoot for the magazine’s prestigious September issue.

Rihanna expressed her disbelief and grief in the comments section of the Instagram post. “This is beyond comprehension,” Rihanna commented from her verified account. “Lynn, you will eternally be our guardian angel! I will love you forever!”

Drena De Niro, the adopted daughter of actor Robert De Niro, extended her condolences to both Ban’s son and husband, expressing her deep affection for Ban. “She was an extraordinary individual, remarkably talented, generous, compassionate, and beautiful both inside and out,” De Niro remarked. “My son Leo held her and her jewelry in the highest regard.”

Her business partner, Jett Kain, who is also her husband, shared an Instagram post in August celebrating their 30-year partnership. She jokingly referred to Kain as her “favorite photographer.”
