Kelsey Plum Wants To Develop The Next Generation Of ‘Dawgs’
Kelsey Plum, former University of Washington star and current Las Vegas Aces guard, is making a big investment in the next generation of basketball players in her hometown of Poway, California. She recently donated $1 million to her alma mater, Poway High School, to build a new basketball facility that will be named the Kelsey Plum Basketball Center.
Giving Back To Her Community
Plum said she hopes the new facility will help to develop more talented young basketball players in Poway. “I want to give back to the community that gave me so much,” she said. “I want to help kids reach their dreams, just like I was able to.”
State-Of-The-Art Facility
The Kelsey Plum Basketball Center will feature a regulation-size basketball court, a weight room, and a film room. The facility will be available to all Poway High School students, as well as to members of the community.
“This is going to be a game-changer for our basketball program,” said Poway High School athletic director Tony Penna. “We’re so grateful to Kelsey for her generosity.”
Inspiring The Next Generation
Plum is excited to see how the new basketball facility will impact the lives of young people in Poway. “I hope this facility will inspire kids to dream big and to work hard to achieve their goals,” she said. “I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Poway basketball.”
